VRLA technology, which stands for Valve Regulated Lead Acid, utilizes sealed batteries that only release gas in cases of overcharging or cell failure, making them maintenance-free. The technology includes two types: Sealed (VRLA) AGM batteries, where the electrolyte is absorbed into a glass-fiber mat, suitable for high current delivery; and Sealed (VRLA) Gel batteries, where the electrolyte is immobilized as gel, offering better cycle capacity and longer service life. VRLA batteries have low self-discharge rates and can be stored for extended periods without recharge. They also exhibit exceptional deep discharge recovery. It's important to note that repeated deep and prolonged discharge negatively affects the service life of all lead acid batteries, including VRLA batteries. The capacity of VRLA batteries varies based on discharge time and current, and the use of constant power loads like inverters can further impact their effective capacity.
